I enjoyed Levy’s article “Cataloging in the digital order.” I found it interesting that Levy said catalogers are sometimes looked down upon and their work considered routine and semi skilled. Cataloging is such an important part of a library or collection as it allows users to access the information that they are looking for, which is what libraries are all about. It seems like complicated work in which catalogers must assess different resources and figure out how to best organize them.
This article also pointed out that doing so is becoming increasingly complicated with internet resources. Perhaps as the position evolves new and innovative ways to catalog online and digital resources, catalogers will gain more respect in the field.
