Metadata

After reading about metadata in Chowdhury, I couldn’t help but to think about this broadcast I heard on the Brian Lehrer show from WNYC, in which Brian and his guests discussed metadata and its implications upon privacy. Now, Chowdhury specifically covers how and why metadata is relevant in “libraryland.” However, the concept of metadata is becoming more prevalent. So I think as information professionals we should understand not only how we utilize metadata, but also be acquainted with how it impacts other fields and society, in general.
Here is the link to the specific broadcast I am referring to: http://www.wnyc.org/story/crossing-lines-over-privacy/ and here is the link to the broader discussion of privacy and technology that Brian engages in with other guests: http://www.wnyc.org/shows/bl/
