I am interested in the idea of folksonomies for classifying web resources, which Chowdhury mentions at the end of Chapter 7.  Because the volume of information on the web is so huge, a social model – where users tag web resources with their own categories – seems efficient.  While the result would be less sophisticated, and more malleable, than standard bibliographic records for print materials and e-resources, it could address the extent of information that needs organization on the web and the model would suit current user habits.  Perhaps folksonomies will develop into a supplemental component for traditional library catalogs and for the web in general?
